Margarites was one of my favourite little villages we visited. Not many people reach the place as it is far away from most tourist attractions. We had a very nice walk along the streets, ate our best meal on Crete in a very old family-run

Balos lagoon. Perfect combination of mountains and sea. They call it the European Caribbean. And whoever they are, they are right. There are two ways of approaching the lagoon: 1. You may get into the ship with one thousand other tourists and simply sail there.

It was one of the most amazing places on the island. A fortress. A leper colony in the past. A home for loads of opuntias. Totally spooky! But no worries, only when you are there 😉 Enjoy!

The south of Crete is less accessible due to the fact that the roads are quite old, very narrow and loaded with sharp turns. But, come on, it sounds like an invitation to some fun. We would never say ‘no’ to such an adventure! So
